MAC’s Cream Colour Base in Hush ($16.50) isn’t a new product (it’s part of the permanent line), but it was new to me when our paths crossed a couple weeks ago. Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. It can be applied with a brush, sponge, or fingers. Colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application.

I adoreMAC’s color cream base, they really bringwhole another dimension and glow to my makeup routine and make me feel like I'm a Victoria Secret model. They are very creamy and not really long lasting, so I wouldn’t recommend applying these onto your eyelids, but they look great applied onto the cheekbones, down the brim of the nose, above the cupids bow and on the inner corner of the eye. The result is a fresh and dewy make-up look. I recommend the use of a powder foundation or any other oil absorbing powder before applying the Cream Colour Base.

First blog! Yay! Well where to start… ah yes, most recent purchase is probably the best place. Living in Switzerland the make-up here is massively marked up in price compared to the UK (where I’m from) and elsewhere in Europe. Mainly this is because the Swiss Franc (CHF) is very strong at the moment due to the world economic crisis. Anyways, I am going to be adding the purchase price in CHF/Euro/£ (depending on where I buy things), in case it’s useful to anyone (and I will have a reminder of how much things are when I go for repeat purchases).

Best audio editing for mac. Last weekend I headed over to the Balexert Shopping Centre for the first time and was fairly surprised to see a Lush and a MAC counter (in the Globus department store). MAC is my go-to brand at the moment, having only gotten into high-end make-up in the last 12 months (I was a late developer, at 30!) and I L-O-V-E it. Nothing else can be said, apart from some serious internet time has been dedicated to this minor obsession with all the new collections which have been released this year, as well as trying to get the basics sorted as well. It’s kind of a pain that the Swiss MAC site does not sell products, so I have to drawl over new collections until the day of release in store, when I can go get my new beauties.

Back to Saturday… I headed into Lush and got two bits, a bath bubble bar (#134: Au pays de Candy or Creamy Candy as it’s known in the UK) and a soap in Rock Star. These two beauties cost around 7CHF each – although items from Lush are charged per 100gram, so each item is slightly different in price depending on the size. PS All Lush items are animal friendly and the items I bought are vegan friendly too.

Candy Bubble Bar on the left (6.40CHF) and Rock Star Soap on the right (7.80CHF)

The bubble bar is the perfect size for 3 – 4 baths, and you crumble it into running water, it doesn’t dissolve immediately, but if you put it in there when you first start running the bath you will have lots of lovely creamy bubbles by the time it is full. In the bar form it has a very strong sweet aroma, which will make you bathroom smell lovely even when you’re not using it. If you have ever walked past a Lush store, then this is the smell that I would most closely associate with Lush and emanates from the stores. It’s a very sweet rose / parma-violets smell, which I personally love, and the fact that it lasts a good 3-4 baths makes it great value for money for a small luxury treat. The Rock Star soap bar is also a very sweet-smelling bar, which is easy to lather up and wash with, the only drag with using the soap is that it does kill the bubble bath, but I think that’s universal with soap. It’s not drying (I have normal skin) and it smells great when using it, but the smell does fade quickly and today (after using it yesterday evening) I can’t smell it on me any more. It does swell in water and a bit of product does end up sticking to the soap holder rather than staying on the bar, but that’s OK for me, I have had this before I expect it. I will probably repurchase again, just for the smell it gives my bathroom!

I also had to pop into the MAC counter when I saw it there, I mean I hadn’t had a proper look at the Posh Paradise Collection last time I was at a counter and I still hadn’t got the cream colour base (CCB) I wanted from the MAC Me Over collection either! Sadly the CCB in ‘Seaside’ was sold out, but I found a slightly lighter CCB from the permanent collection (RRP 28CHF each) called ‘Hush’. I will be using it as a base for eyeshadow and under blush, when I want to brighten up some of my normal blush colours. It is a light peachy-pink colour, with a subtle sheen, at the moment I am using this with my fingers although I will probably end up buying a brush that can work with creams bases a little better than the ones I have already.

This would probably be good as a light highlight on the cheek and under the eyebrows also. Today while I am looking at it I have noticed that it does sweat slightly, but this goes when you mix the product. I also picked up one paint pot (28CHF each) from the Posh Paradise Collection in ‘Idyllic’. I did swatch the others but most of them were too dark for me and the Nubile was nice, but a bit too peachy. I decided I will probably give the others a miss and have a look at the permanent paint pots when I get a chance. I know this sounds crazy considering these are LE, but I don’t want to waste my cash just to say I can own something. I want it to work for me, and although I do wear darker eyeshadow, I wouldn’t say it was often enough to warrant loads of money being spent on bases, when I have other things I know I want from the upcoming collections (OMG I cannot wait for the new MAC Fall Colour Collection to be released on Thursday).

Idyllic is a lovely burnt red, slightly coppery look and goes really well under the Mythical e/s that came out in the MAC Me Over collection. This is a great shade for fall and once it’s applied / set it ain’t going nowhere; if all paint pots are like that, I might be getting a couple more soon (in the lighter shades).

Idyllic Swatch with flash

The swatches shown the left hand side are swatched heavier and the right hand side buffed out slightly. As you can see from the photo without flash, that it has a lovely micro sparkle to it, it’s not too chunky though and it could probably be used on its own with neutrals for a nice everyday look. This looks amazing on my blue eyes and (predictably) I love it so far as it doesn’t crease and helps my e’s stay put all day long.

Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope you like my swatches. This week I am looking forward to the release of the MAC Fall Colour Collection on Thursday. I already have my eye on both the MSF’s and some of the pigments too! Let me know what you’re interested in from the new MAC collections – I have seen the publicity shoots for the up coming winter collections, I love this season sooo much . Bye for now.
